Slasher teams rejoice, because Rob Lucci is finally here! He
easily takes over Kuro’s spot as best QCK slasher and will also be a welcome
addition for most mono-QCK teams as well. His special isn’t exactly mind
blowing, but it acts as a solid damage nuke (30k dmg). His Captain ability is
overshadowed by most other decent QCK captains, but he can be used in a pinch for
people that are just extremely unlucky with pulls.

An extremely solid unit, Kaku will find usage in many teams in the future. For those not familiar, his special works just like Petty Officer Coby’s. Once activated, it will boost all damage by 1.5x for all units with matching orbs for the next two turns. The units do not have to be QCK units, which is what makes this special so valuable. While Coby is probably a better option at the moment (if you managed to grab him), Kaku will see more usage in the future as Striker teams become more powerful.

They can’t all be winners folks. While his special may prove to be somewhat
useful in the future as an orb manipulator for QCK teams, his stats are nothing
to write home about. You may want to hold onto him, since even decent Shooters
are pretty hard to find currently, but I wouldn’t recommend dumping many
resources into him.
Level Overview:
Special Conditions: Only DEX Characters may be used (Stamina 15 and
30 only)
Stage 1/10:
Just stall as much as possible without taking
damage. If your team is not exceptionally strong, you may want to begin trying
to grab a few Green orbs for a possible Kaku/Lulu encounter.
Stage 2/10:
Continue
to stall as much as possible without taking damage. If your team is not
exceptionally strong, continue trying to try to grab a few Green orbs in case
of a secret encounter with Kaku or Lulu.
Stage 3/10:
The turtle stage! Just continue to stall as much as
possible without taking damage.
Stage 4/10:
These units all have high defense, but generally
only half are ready to attack at one time.
Note: Anecdotal evidence suggests that this is the stage with the highest likelihood of having a Secret Encounter.
Stage 5/10:
Same story as the first few stages: Just stall as
much as possible without taking damage.
Note: The Axe minions will lock your entire team for 2 turns if you
allow them to attack.
Stage 6/10:
Continue to stall as much as possible without taking damage.
Stage 7/10:
Continue to stall without taking damage.
Stage 8/10:
Turtle stage! Otherwise, nothing special here. Take a hit from the turtle here if you still need some time to stall for your specials. Keep in mind that it only has 8 HP, so you’ll only be able to get around 2 hits in.
Stage 9/10:
Crab stage! This is your last chance to stall for Special timers, so do a double check here to make sure you are ready for Lucci on the next stage. If you still need a few turns, then stall as much as possible. Unfortunately, the crab only has 8 HP, so stall wisely. You can take a hit from one of the minions as well, but be mindful of your HP for your fight with Lucci on the next stage.
Note: The Axe minion will lock your entire team for 2 turns if you allow him to attack.
Stage 10/10:
Rob Lucci! Unlike his associate Kalifa, Lucci can
handle his own business, so you won’t have to worry about any minions.
Unfortunately, Lucci packs a much larger punch, so be prepared!

Special Attack (below 1/3 HP) |

Lucci’s preemptive special will randomly change your orb slots to either STR,
QCK, or Meat.
While receiving all Red orbs is unlikely, it’s always better to plan for the
worst case scenario. As such, it’s extremely important that you have some kind
of orb changer in your team. Refer to the team section below for orb changer
options.
The most important thing to keep track of in this fight is Lucci’s HP level. If
you drop him below 1/3 of his HP, then you are going to get hit with a 36,000+
attack. The best option is to get him as close to 1/3 HP as possible and then
activate your orb changer’s ability, so that you can then burst his remaining
health in one shot. This will be a non-issue for stronger teams, but will be
something that weaker teams must really pay attention to.
Secret Encounter – Kaku
For a secret encounter, Kaku sure does show up a
lot. He won’t jump you every time you make a run, but there is a very good
chance that he will show up. Here is what you can expect from him:
HP |
420,000 |
Normal Attack |
4,000 |
Preemptive Attack |

Other than the preemptive attack for 4,000 damage, there is not much to this
encounter. Kaku is fairly beefy, but you are packing a team full of Technique
characters. If you are having trouble on his stage, then you may want to begin
saving Green orbs from prior stages. It’s obviously hard to know when he will
pop up, but there’s a good chance you’ll run into either him, or his associate Lulu,
once a run.
Secret Encounter – Lulu (Loo)
Just like his friend Kaku, Lulu can show up as a
random encounter during any stage from 1-9.

Lulu is definitely not a pushover, so it’s not a bad idea to keep a few Green
orbs in reserve, just in case you run into him. He shouldn’t give you too much
of a problem, but the fact that he is fairly tanky and also has two Blue
minions accompanying him means that there’s a good chance that you could take
4k-6k damage from this encounter. Plan accordingly!
Useable Characters:
Essential Characters:
Ashura Zoro
Mihawk
Trafalgar
Law
In
order to complete this fortnight (on 30 stamina), it is essential that you own
at least one of the characters above. Thankfully, Zoro is given to you fairly
early in the game, so hopefully you have taken the time to at least evolve him
to his Ashura Zoro form. The Mihawk raid boss event has been around a couple of
times now, so most older players should have access to him as well. Trafalgar
will be the rarest, due to his Gatcha exclusivity.
Know of another captain that can work with this island? Let us
know!
Optimal Characters:
Appo
Kalifa
Paulie
Zeff
Izo
Smoker
These
are characters that will make the absolute best teammates for this event. A
couple are story units (Smoker & Zeff), a couple are event units (Paulie
& Kalifa), and a couple are Gatcha only units (Izo & Appo). While you
probably won’t have every single one of these units, having at least a couple
will make your life much easier for this run.
Okay Characters:
Green
Pirate (orb changer)
Guard
Point Chopper
Hachi
Lion
Song Zoro (Ashura is almost always better)
Chessmarimo
These
are characters that work pretty well, but aren’t exactly top of their class.
Other than Lion Song Zoro, which should be replaced with Ashura Zoro anyway,
all of these are available through the story mode of the game. While we don’t
recommend dropping a lot of resources into these characters, they can
definitely work in a pinch if you find yourself low on DEX units for this
event.
The “I Got Nothin’ Else” Characters:
Green
Dragon
Brontosaurus
Green
Lobster
Miss
Goldenweek
Cabaji
These
units are pretty terrible, but keep in mind that it’s always better to have a
full roster of 6, due to the damage multiplier you receive from hitting
perfects. Unless you’ve got a bunch of fodder units that you need to combine,
it’s probably best to not put many resources into these characters. Just throw
them into your team and hope for the best.
Viable Teams:
The following
is a list of teams that have proven effective for this event. While we try to
give minimum level requirements where possible, you should most likely shoot
for a minimum level of 50 for most of the characters in your team. It’s
definitely possible that some teams can complete the event with lower levels,
but that will be subjective. As always, before trying out any team and wasting
your stamina, we recommend that you test out your team’s damage output using
the following damage calculator: http://optc.github.io/damage/#/
Useful:
Marco the Phoenix
If you
are lucky enough to have pulled a Marco from the Captcha, then this skill book
is going to be extremely valuable to you. A special that completely heals your
health is obviously very nice to have and comes in really handy for some Raid
Bosses, especially when combined with a Garp captain. It is highly recommended
that you do not use these books until a Skill Up Increase event is in place.
Streaming
Wolf Swords Zoro
Disappointed
because you pulled two of these during a Gatcha event? Don't be too hasty to
combine your extra! A lot of people are probably not even aware of the
usefulness of this character, as he is generally eclipsed by his evolved form:
Lion Song Zoro. While Lion Song is definitely extremely useful, his little
brother's special is not too shabby itself. Basically an alternate version of
Jozu's special, Streaming Wolf can completely nullify all Strength type attacks
for one turn. While not as important as Marco's skill book overall, you may
want to consider hoarding these for a skill up event if you have the room.
Not really all that useful, but it never hurts to bring down a decent unit's special timer.
Exp. Fodder:
Chopper's special, which converts adjacent characters' slots to Food, can be quite handy, but he is generally outclassed by other characters with the same special. Nonetheless, if you (somehow) don't have access to those other characters, then you might actually find some use for this skill book.
Poor Gin. While a fairly interesting and cool character in the manga, he is pretty crappy overall in this game. If you're new to the game and lacking on QCK characters, then feel free to make use of him, but you're really better off dumping your resources into almost any other character.
It's weird seeing this character in the Exp. Fodder category, but Ace's special actually changes once he evolves. This means that any skill-ups you obtain from this skill book will unfortunately not carry over to your evolved Fire Fist Ace.
