This socket ability reduces damage taken from enemy units. It does not reduce poison damage or environmental damage.

This socket is really not all that great. In order for this special to really shine, you would actually have to take damage first, which is not ideal in most situations. This could work well with Lion Song Zoro, but not a lot of people still run Zombie teams anyway.

We are rating this socket fairly low, simply because there are currently no raids or fortnights in either the Global or Japan versions that require this ability.

2 Turn cooldown reduction

This socket ability reduces the amount of turns to charge a special at the start of the level. This only affects special cooldowns at the start of the battle; once used, specials will require the same amount of turns to charge as normal.

This socket can be pretty great, depending on your team. It allows you to use your characters’ specials two turns earlier than normal. This might not sound like much at first, but this can make or break certain teams for some Raid Boss runs. The one thing this socket is not that great for is 0 stamina raids, since you generally always have time to stall for specials at the beginning and the effect doesn’t apply to the cooldown of specials after their first use.

While not the best socket, it is definitely still worth putting points into, especially if you have a team with extra slots available.

Original 5 Stars – Updated Character Review

The Original 5 Stars – Updated Character Review

This marks the first of a series of planned articles, where we are planning to talk about the current states of different Rare Recruit exclusives. A lot of these units have been out for a while now and, while they may have initial been great units, things may have changed since their initial release. We will talk about how those units fare in Global and we will try to summarize their current state in Japan in order to analyze their long lasting appeal.

Our first article will discuss the initial batch of 5* Rare Recruit Units that were available at the time the game was originally released. This is a pretty small list, but this should give you at least an idea of what we are trying to accomplish with this series.

Portgas D. Ace Flame Mirror

  • Captain Ability:
Boosts ATK of QCK characters by 2.5x
  • Special:
Deals 15x character's ATK in QCK to all enemies

Review: For me personally, this was the coolest unit in the game when it first released. Ace is obviously an awesome character in general, so, combined with the low amount of QCK characters available at the time, he was one of the best pulls you could get.

How does he hold up now though? Kind of so-so really. He’s still the only 2.5x ATK booster Captain for QCK units, but Jozu tends to outshine him as a Captain in a lot of situations. While his HP is nice, his other stats really aren’t much to write home about and his special is pretty lacklustre. While he’s still very useful, he wouldn’t be our first pick if we were rolling a new account.

The Future: The future doesn’t really change much for Ace, other than the fact that he will probably see even less use as a Captain. There will still be some instances where his slightly higher ATK boost will come in handy, but he will still tend to be overshadowed by other Captains, such as Jozu and Enel.

Yeah, she isn’t really that useful. The key piece for a current INT Burst team is Robin, who boosts INT character’s attack by 2x for 1 turn. While having an orb boosting special that last 3 turns is nice, you would probably be better off bringing the highest orb boost you have available, be it Doflamingo if you have leveled his skill or Coby / Kaku if you haven’t. Her captain ability is nothing to write home about either: works like a safer (but much weaker) version of Ivankov and we can’t think of a single real situation where you would use her as a captain. Or even as a sub, really. Unless you want to go nuts and make a Newkama team. Which, why wouldn’t you?

Raid Boss Simulator Spreadsheet

Do you like coming up with teams that can work against Raid bosses? Have you ever spent a ton of time working on a team, only to find out that the team doesn't work, because you forgot to account for one little thing the Raid Boss does?

Well fear no more, because we have got just the solution you've been waiting for! Our patent pending (not really) Raid Boss Simulator spreadsheet is the very best solution for theory crafting new teams! And now it's been updated to include all current raid bosses!

It may look scary at first, but it's really not that hard to use, we promise! Just download the spreadsheet, find the tab of the boss you want to build a team for, and then enter your damage/specials for each turn. The spreadsheet is highly automated, so that's really all you have to do!

We hope to have Zehpyr (lol) and Heracles added very soon!

Alvida is one of the best subs in the entire game. Her special ability starts at a decent enough cooldown (15 turns) and vastly reduces the amount of damage taken in the next turn. She is widely used in Fortnights (especially in Striker or Strenth teams), Raid Bosses (many times, like Golden Pound Usopp, even if she isn’t boosted) and even Training Forests, so she is an investment you won’t regret.
She is worth max skilling too, keep that in mind.

The frightful captain of the Clown Pirates was the first INT leader many One Piece Treasure Cruise players had. He isn’t anything special right now, but his condition as a jack of all trades improves his rating quite a bit (even if he is a master of none). His captain skill will be useful for players that haven’t pulled Towel Nami, Vista and Rayleigh on Rare Recruit and his skill would be useful for orb manipulation when combined with Brain Point Chopper or Broggy.

An awful character. His stats are bad, his special is useless and his captain ability is terrible and vastly outclassed by Asura Zoro, which is given for free and boosts DEX character’s attack and HP by 2x. Unless you are a collector, sell it.
